This Bride Finished Knitting Her Wedding Dress 4 Days Before The Wedding, Documented The Entire Process And Shared It Online

Bride Finishes Knitting Wedding Dress 4 Days Before Wedding

Weddings are beautiful but stressful events that require extensive planning, especially when it comes to the dress. Some brides choose to craft their own dresses, like Veronika Lindberg Heino, known as Kika, who knitted her wedding gown in just six weeks. She documented the entire process on Instagram and YouTube, sharing both the challenges and successes with her followers.

Kika, from Finland, took on this ambitious project while moving house and planning her wedding. “I do love a challenge and I’m often a little bit over-ambitious,” she told Good Morning America. “I ordered 2.5 kg of pure silk yarn and announced my crazy plan on Instagram.” Inspired by designs from Dior, Chanel, and Ulla Johnson, she sketched and planned her patterns before beginning the knitting.

The journey was not smooth. Two weeks in, Kika realized the bodice was too big and had to start over. “It was a tough and frustrating moment where some tears were shed,” she admitted. Despite setbacks, including slippy sleeves, she persevered. “The biggest motivator was seeing if I could pull my idea and vision off,” she explained.

Four days before the wedding, Kika completed her dress. She married Jukka Heino on September 10, wearing her handmade gown. “In the end, he was super impressed and proud of me,” she said of her husband. Guests were amazed by her dress, which took around 250 hours and 1.5 kg of silk yarn, costing 300 euros.

Kika’s 46-minute vlog on YouTube documenting the process has garnered over 3.4 million views. “I’ve received messages from people all over the world telling me I’ve inspired them to take up knitting again,” she shared. Kika hopes her journey encourages others to embrace ambitious creative projects. “Even if it might feel a bit ambitious, I say go for it!”
