Sir Elton John’s Decision

Sir Elton John announced that he was retiring from touring after his “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour ended in Stockholm, Sweden. However, many fans have been curious to know if he would truly be able to stay away from touring. Nearly a year later, it is now confirmed that Sir Elton will indeed not be touring again.

In a recent interview, John shared that going on tour is not something he is willing to consider anymore. His main reason for this decision is to prioritize his family. Sir Elton is a proud husband to David Furnish and a doting father to their two sons, 11-year-old Elijah and 13-year-old Zachary.

David Furnish explained, “We’ve got our sons, you know, they’re getting into their teenage years now. We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be present for that.” He emphasized that this phase of their children’s lives is crucial, and they want to be there to support and guide them every step of the way.

Furnish also highlighted the fact that Sir Elton has been touring for six decades and now it’s time for the 77-year-old music legend to take a well-deserved break. He mentioned, “He’s been doing it for 60 years, so it’s nice to have that time to spend at home with family.”

Elton John himself expressed his satisfaction with the way he ended his farewell tour. He described the final show in Stockholm as a thrilling and unforgettable experience. He said, “The last show in Stockholm on the farewell tour after Glastonbury, I got in the car and went, ‘Yes! Yes!’ We went out on the biggest high, just the way I wanted to, and there’s no going back [after] that.”

During his farewell concert, John took a moment to express his gratitude to his loyal fans. He acknowledged their support throughout his career and thanked them for attending his shows. He said, “Fifty-two years of pure joy, playing music. How lucky am I to play music?

But I wouldn’t be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes. But more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows. And you know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys. You’ve been absolutely magnificent. Thank you.”

Although Sir Elton John firmly states that he will never tour again, he did mention the possibility of a one-time live performance in the future. While fans may miss the excitement of his tours, they can still cherish the incredible memories and look forward to any special appearances he may make.
