When we enter into a marriage, we agree that it is for better or for worse. We want to do what we can to keep the marriage alive and sometimes, that means making some sacrifices in our own life for the benefit of our significant other.
Nobody knows this better than an 80-year-old man who does the sweetest thing for his wife every day. Even though she is living in a nursing home, he brings her breakfast every morning and makes sure that she has something good.
When they asked him why his wife was in a retirement home, he said that she had Alzheimer’s disease. It’s nice that he can get the assistance that he needs in order to care for his wife properly.
The fact that she has Alzheimer’s led some to ask if his wife would be worried if she didn’t come to bring her breakfast in the morning. He admitted that she doesn’t remember and she doesn’t even know who he is, so she hasn’t recognized him for five years.
When the nurse asked him why he brought her breakfast every morning even when she doesn’t recognize him, the old man smiled and said that she doesn’t know who he is, but he knows who she is.
