Getting old can be a source of fear for many of us. The thought of losing our independence and relying on others for basic tasks is unsettling. However, one woman named Maria, who was living out her final days in a care facility, found solace in a heartfelt gesture from an unexpected source.
Maria had spent her entire life as a singing and piano teacher, and music held a special place in her heart. She longed to be surrounded by the melodies she had cherished for so long. Fortunately, fate brought her a familiar face – Joshua Woodard, one of her former students, who now worked at her care home in Austinburg, Ohio.
Joshua was eager to grant Maria’s final wish – to hear the song “How Great Thou Art” before she passed away. Armed with the lyrics on his phone, he serenaded Maria with a heartfelt rendition of her favorite song. It was a moment filled with joy and nostalgia, as the bond between teacher and student resurfaced after all those years.
This heartwarming act of kindness didn’t go unnoticed. Marti Adkins Redmond, who witnessed the encounter, praised Joshua for his exceptional care and called him a special hospice aide. She emphasized the remarkable connection between Maria, the music teacher, and Joshua, her former student.
Sadly, Maria is no longer with us, which makes this clip even more poignant. It serves as a reminder of the dedicated staff who tirelessly care for our elderly loved ones. Let’s honor their commitment by sharing this beautiful video with all our friends on Facebook.
