The Long Career Of Actress Sally Field

Actors have a way of touching us on a very personal level. As we continue to watch them in one movie after another, we almost form a friendship with them, even though it is only one-sided.

That is how many of us feel about Sally Field. She is an actress that all of us can recognize from at least one, if not many movies. She also has won many awards, including Golden Globe, Academy Awards, and Emmy awards.

More than likely, you remember the 76-year-old actress from some of her more popular movies, including Steel Magnolias and Forrest Gump. She actually got her start on Gidget in 1965, and has been on television and in the motion picture set ever since.

Although many of us think of her as living a charmed life, she has actually had some difficulties along the way. This includes sexual abuse at the hands of her stepfather and some serious problems with depression and loneliness.

Sally Field was born on November 6, 1946 in Pasadena, California. Her father was a salesman and her mother, and actress.

Eventually, her mother would marry an actor and stuntman, Jock Mahoney. The influence of her mother and stepfather really helped to move her in the direction and eventually, assisted her in becoming an actress.

Sally Field was married to Stephen Craig in 1968 and they divorced in 1975. They had two children, Peter and Eli. She then married Alan Greisman in 1984, and they had a son, Samuel before divorcing in 1994.

Between the years of 1976 and 1980, she dated Burt Reynolds. They were also in some movies together, including Smokey and the Bandit. That relationship didn’t go well and Burt Reynolds was controlling in her estimation.

Reynolds regretted the fact that they didn’t stick with their relationship, calling it “the biggest regret of my life.” Fields, on the other hand, said that he was someone she couldn’t be around and she hadn’t talked to him for 30 years.

“He was just not good for me in any way. And he had somehow invented in his rethinking of everything that I was more important to him than he had thought, but I wasn’t. He just wanted to have the thing he didn’t have. I just didn’t want to deal with that.”

Sally Field enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and she has a room where she plays video games with them. It is also the room where she keeps her Oscars and Emmys.

She also is still active at acting, and even has a new film, Spoiler Alert as well as ’80 for Brady’.

According to her friend, Steven Spielberg: “As an actor, she dared this town to typecast her, and then simply broke through every dogmatic barrier to find her own way — not to stardom, which I imagine she’d decry, but to great roles in great films and television

“Through her consistently good taste and feisty persistence, she has survived our ever-changing culture, stood the test of time and earned this singular place in history.”

It’s amazing to think that she has been active with her career for more than six decades. People around the world love her, regardless of whether she is Gidget or any other part. In the end, she is just a mother and grandmother who was getting all she can out of life.
