It seems that we all have a heart for animals, and when we see them in distress, we begin to feel what they feel. That is the case when we see dogs that have been stuck at the pound for a very long time.

Recently, a 3-year-old shelter dog went viral when a photo was shown online. The dog had been rejected for adoption and was absolutely devastated.

Rocky is a 3-year-old pit bull that was being cared for by the Lollipop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester. His family had been evicted from their home and could no longer take care of him, so Rocky had been with them since October 2022.

During the time that he stayed at the animal shelter, he was adopted out two times. Unfortunately, he was returned within the two-week adoption trial both times.

The communication specialist for the shelter, Lindsay Brewer, said: “He was most recently returned this past September and has had no luck since. He’s a great dog, but he would thrive in a certain type of home that may be more difficult to find.”

Rocky continues to be at the mercy of those who were not willing to adopt him and eventually, it took a toll. That is what you see on the face, as Rocky sits in his kennel all alone, hanging his head and feeling devastated.

Life can be difficult when you are a dog living in a shelter. Let’s hope Rocky finds the home he so desperately deserves.
