We are going to have many friends in our lifetime. Some of them will just be acquaintances who are here and gone and we may not even remember their names. Others are going to be lifelong friends who will be there for us through thick and thin.
Sometimes, friends aren’t exactly what you think they are from the start but Lawson Spolansky is taking that fact to an extreme. He went on TikTok to describe his so-called “embarrassing best friend” in a story that has people wondering what could have possibly gone wrong.
The video was viewed more than 1 million times after it was posted. According to Lawson, it started in 2012 when he started showing some social and behavioral issues in school. He was only five years old at the time.
He had hurt himself one day falling off of the monkey bars and the little blonde boy came over and began taunting him. It only took a moment for the boy’s mother to come to his aid and the boys ended up hanging out at the park together.
The following September, he saw the same young boy that he called Dexter in the video. The boy was sitting next to him in school and they developed a very strong relationship over the years. It even helped him to do better in school.
In 2018, Dexter told Lawson that he wanted to take him to Spain, Paris, and Universal California. He said that he had some birthday money and wanted Lawson to begin packing. The next day, he started making some strange excuses why he couldn’t go.
When Lawson saw he had posted pictures on Instagram with his mother and aunt in Hollywood together, and left him with a lot of questions. He asked his aunt what was going on and she said it must’ve been a miscommunication.
In 2021, Lawson’s boyfriend at the time was working as a pool boy for Dexter’s mother. While working there, he figured out that the woman wasn’t actually Dexter’s mother but rather, she was his agent. He then said that his aunt was best friends with Dexter’s real mother, and she never met her. She paid to have Dexter become his friend.
On top of it, he also said that his therapist was the sister of Dexter’s agent. He went on to say: “So now I’m left broken, [a] severe amount of trust issues, and I feel like I never really went anywhere. I thought I had a real friend, but then you find out this friend is actually paid.”
At this point, he feels as if he never experienced true friendship and doesn’t know why he shared it, but he thought it would be interesting.
Many viewers were concerned about what he had to say and some even doubted its truth. I guess we will just all have our own opinion on it.
