People love to talk about the weather and in some areas, they complain about it on a regular basis. They sometimes complain for good reason, because the weather can be severe on occasion.
In some areas of the world, they will tell you that, if you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes and it will change. In other parts of the world, if it starts raining, you might be in for quite a soaking.
In the Southwest United States, 2016 brought about a lot of heavy flooding and people lost everything. There were some people, however, who took action and were able to save their homes from the rising water.
Randy Wagner is one of those individuals and he was able to save his Texas home from the 2016 floods. He spent his money to purchase an aqua dam that surrounded the house and the nearby property.
This may have seemed strange to many people in the area, but he had faith it would work. In fact, it was still dry in the area when he drove to Louisiana to pick up the aqua dam and bring it home.
Some of his neighbors complained about his decision and were critical of him. Randy was looking back on the nearby floods in 2015, with so many people losing everything.
The people in the area lost their homes when the floodwaters came. The Wagner home, however, did not have any damage.
He said: “To not know what that level was going to stop at, I needed to prepare for something that no one has seen.”
“I was the crazy guy. Everybody was kinda going by, laughing at me. But today they are really impressed with this Aquadam.”
It took three men to unroll the 400 feet of tubing that provided a 30-inch barrier around the home. Essentially, it was a dam made of plastic and fabric that was filled with water.
The tubing itself was simplistic, but it did amazing things for the Wagner family. They stayed home when the floodwaters came and were happy with the $8300 investment, as it saved them from having 2 feet of water inside.
Aqua dams are not often seen but they have saved people thousands of dollars when they are used properly. You can see more about them in this video:
