Blake Lively had a big birthday party after facing a lot of criticism online.
The actress celebrated her 37th birthday at her best friend Taylor Swift’s mansion in Rhode Island over the weekend. She decided to party instead of responding to the intense backlash about how she promoted her new movie, “It Ends With Us.”
Lively was seen kissing her husband, Ryan Reynolds, on Saturday outside Swift’s fancy home, where the party was held.
The “Gossip Girl” star wore a bright bikini top and floral shorts while showing lots of affection with Reynolds, 47, who was wearing a pink button-up shirt and a blue hat.
Photos from Page Six show Lively on the balcony of Swift’s home with her and Reynolds’ children. The couple has three daughters, James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, as well as a son, Olin, 1.
Swift, 34, invited many top celebrities to her $17 million Rhode Island home, including her boyfriend Travis Kelce, his brother Jason Kelce, and Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce.
Bradley Cooper, who is dating Lively’s friend Gigi Hadid, also attended the party with his 7-year-old daughter Lea. It’s not clear if Hadid, 29, was there.
Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes were also at the party over the weekend.
On Lively’s 37th birthday Sunday, her half-sister Robyn Lively, 52, posted a tribute to her on Instagram.
Robyn wrote, “That’s my birthday queen right there! I love this girl—my sister, my best friend, and my little piggyback buddy! You are one of the best people I know. HAPPY birthday, sissy britches!” She included photos of them together over the years.
Before being seen in Rhode Island, Lively had been keeping a low profile because of the drama around “It Ends With Us.”
In the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling book, Lively plays a woman in an abusive relationship.
While promoting the movie, she faced criticism for not talking about the film’s theme of domestic violence and instead focusing on her new hair care line, Blake Brown, and her floral fashion.
In a popular interview clip, Lively told fans to “grab your friends and wear your florals” and go see the movie.
She faced more criticism when old videos of her being rude in past interviews were brought back up.
In a 2016 interview for her movie “Café Society,” Norwegian reporter Kjersti Flaa congratulated Lively on her baby bump, which led to some sharp responses from Lively.
Flaa later posted the video on YouTube with the title, “The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job.”
Also resurfacing online was an Elle magazine interview from 2012 where Lively repeatedly used a transgender slur while talking about her future children.
Besides the criticism Lively is facing, there are rumors of tension among the “It Ends With Us” cast.
Justin Baldoni, who directed the film and played the male lead, didn’t attend any press events or red-carpet appearances with his co-stars Lively, Brandon Sklenar, Isabela Ferrer, and Jenny Slate.
At the New York premiere on August 6, Baldoni and Lively, who was also a producer, watched the movie in different theaters.
Sklenar, who plays one of Lively’s love interests in the film, was the first cast member to address the rumors of drama on Instagram last week.
